I have been asked many times on Facebook and Nextdoor my stance on Open Beaches. I have been as transparent as possible. I am doing my best to see all your individual questions. Please realize I am not on Facebook and Nextdoor all day and I am not in some of the groups that you may be posting in. If someone alerts me to a post, I do my best to respond.
I have been speaking about Customary Use at the Board of County Commission meetings since the inception of HB 631. All of the videos of myself and others standing in front of the BCC can be found on the Walton County BOCC Meeting website. You can view the historical meetings as well as watch them as they are happening.
I support open beaches and I also support everyone's personal property rights. We as a community need to understand the dismissal of the lawsuit to it's fullest extent. I have continuously requested the county and the acting county attorney to hold a workshop and explain in great detail the lawsuit dismissal and outline for the community what are the options that We The People have to ensure open beaches in Walton County. If I am put into office, I can assure you that this meeting will take place and we will be better informed to take the necessary actions that is in the best interest for everyone.
Some people who are not my supporters, and that is OK. Are stating all my donations are from beach front homeowners. I have friends that are beachfront homeowners and I have friends that are not beachfront homeowners. It is important to know that not all beachfront homeowners were part of the lawsuit. And one lovely and kind beachfront homeowner who did donate to my campaign is one of the individuals that signed the agreement and loves to have people enjoying her beach.
I have provided the full beach lawsuit above for everyone to download and review. Exhibit 1 is a listing of the settled parcels and Exhibit 2 is the dismissed with prejudice. What does "dismissed with prejudice" mean. I have provided a link to the full definition.
Walton County has many challenges and the Open Beaches is one of the larger issues we face. However, there are many, many challenges that Walton county is facing and I personally have been standing up for the citizens of Walton county for years. I am hoping to gain your support and hopefully your vote in August. I know with your support I can truly make a positive difference for our community.
Early Voting starts August 10th - 17th. Election Day is August 20th.
